About Us
Sir George Monoux College is situated in the North East London Borough of Waltham Forest, on a single 17.5 acre site in Walthamstow.
One of the most established sixth form colleges in the country, there are currently over 2000 students at the College, all of them 16 to 19 year olds on full-time courses. Over 80% of the students come from minority ethnic groups living in the East London area. The College curriculum provision includes A Level and BTEC subjects and GCSE resit courses. In addition, all students have access to a wide range of sports and activities.
The College serves a wide catchment area and approximately half of its students live in the neighbouring London boroughs of Newham, Haringey, Hackney, Enfield and Tower Hamlets. Access to Central London is good via tube, rail and bus links. The College aims to help students reach their highest potential whether it is academic, artistic or vocational.
The current site in Chingford Road was built in 1927 and has seen millions invested over the past few years to provide exceptional facilities for the students. The Brockman Building was opened in September 2003 and the Drapers Building was opened in September 2004.
The College also features a Conservatory, The Sir Matthew Bourne Theatre, a Student Information Centre, Learning Resource Centre, Science laboratories, IT Suite, Conference Centre, Sports Hall, Gym, gardens and playing fields. Click here for more information of our exceptional facilities.
