Students encouraged to stay hydrated to boost their exam success

Sir George Monoux College has just launched its summer hydration campaign to raise students’ awareness of the risks of being dehydrated and how that could potentially impact on their examination success.

The 'Stay Hydrated' campaign is a joint initiative pioneered by the College’s Study Plus and Enrichment teams. As part of the campaign the College will be handing out free bottles of mineral water to its students and encouraging students to drink more water during the upcoming exam period.

Hayder Khan, the Colleges Study Plus Manager said "Our brains are made up of 75% water and research has shown that being dehydrated by just 2% can reduce concentration by as much as 20%. In this exam season, keeping your fluids topped up makes it easier for students to concentrate and makes revision far more effective. Students are often so focused on their revision that they forget that something as simple as drinking more water can make such a big difference and actually help you to perform your best. We are aiming to raise awareness today by handing out free mineral water as a reminder."

Kiechelle Degale, Enrichment Manager said "This is an important campaign in the run up to our exams period and is in line with the College’s commitment to creating a healthy environment for all our students We are hoping that this will encourage students to drink more water and as a result stay fresher, healthier, more hydrated and focused".
