Sir George Monoux Business High Fliers Graduate
Sir George Monoux College is celebrating yet another year of outstanding success with 100% of students successfully graduating from the prestigious Career Academies UK programme.
This year’s official graduation ceremony took place at the Institute of Education in London. Proud parents and teachers were also joined by James McCreary, Chief Executive of Career Academies UK, as Henrietta Royle, Chief Operating Officer at City University, London had the pleasure of presenting the high flying Academy of Finance students with their certificates.

Kim Clifford, Principal of Sir George Monoux College said, "Congratulations to all our graduates; we are so proud of them! Our industrial partners have positioned this scheme at the forefront of their Corporate Partnership Responsibilities and it has given our students an enormous boost of confidence as well as invaluable lifelong skills. We are honoured that our College was one of the first three colleges in the UK to help pioneer the scheme with Career Academies UK in 2002 and offer students the opportunity to study of on the programme."

The Career Academy extensive programme involves students working with business mentors, attending guru lectures, corporate tours and undertaking a 6-week paid internship. Students are given the unique opportunity to learn the essential skills needed for success in the financial world and gain real-life experiences working at top financial companies such as Citibank, American Express or BP. The success of the course has led the programme to be rolled out to over one hundred colleges across the country and now involves more than seven hundred employers.
Graduating student Fatima Nawaz, who is studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Business said "I am very proud to have been part of the Career Academy; I was overjoyed when I was selected as one of five students for the internship at North London Business. The internship was a great opportunity and helped me to gain working skills in a real life experience, which is even more precious in the current economic climate. My mentor was incredibly supportive and inspiring and helped me to set goals to achieve. The Career Academy also inspired me to study Business Management with Finance and Financial Services, which I hope to study at Westminster University in the Autumn."
Aisha Awan, who plans to study International Banking and Finance at university said, "Sir George Monoux College offers students the opportunity to engage with employers to unleash our full potential. The Career Academy scheme has been a big part of that. I think it has allowed me to develop skills, helped me develop as a person and made me more independent."
James McCreary, Chief Executive of Career Academies UK said, "Almost 90% of last year’s Career Academy graduates progressed to university or training of equivalent level via employment. So, I’d like to offer my personal congratulations to all those receiving their Career Academy graduation certificates this afternoon."

NOTES for Editors:
- The Masters of Ceremony included, Mosleh Chowdhury, a former student of Sir George Monoux College who graduated the Career Academy in 2005. As part of the Career Academy, Mosleh completed internships at both Deutsche Bank and Citigroup before studying a BA in Business Management at the University of Westminster.
- The Graduation Ceremony also included a speech by motivational speaker, Jackson “Action Jackson” Ogunyemi, who recently delivered a session at Sir George Monoux College in to help students prepare for their exams.
