Business Students at Sir George Monoux College provide Entrepreneurs with cutting edge Market Research

Students' research helps businesses launch innovative new products

Business students from Sir George Monoux College have been working alongside Entrepreneurs to provide them with fresh market research into their customers’ needs. One of the projects looked at how the Formula 1 Grand Prix, based in Singapore, attracts its overseas visitors. Students worked with Ravi Krishna, a hospitality entrepreneur, to research marketing strategies employed by the Singapore Tourist Board in order to discover ways of promoting the race to the UK market.

The second project looked at promoting new sustainable energy products to commercial customers. Students researched into how the restaurant sector is currently using environmentally friendly products in order to assess the market potential for sustainable goods. Students worked alongside Marios Poumpouris, the Managing Director of ChillerBox.com, who currently supplies sustainable hospitality products.

Kim Clifford, Principal of Sir George Monoux College said, “We take great pride in preparing our students for the world of work and developing links with practical projects such as these. Our Employer Engagement scheme gives students the opportunity to work directly with employers as part of their course and experience how the theories they have learnt are put into practise in industry and commerce."

Marios, Poumpouris Managing Director of ChillerBox.com said, "The students provided invaluable information in their report and we are already putting their research to use in our projects to market our products more effectively in the hospitality sector."

Jose Vincent, Coordinator of Employer Engagement at Sir George Monoux College said, "The students brought a real competitive edge to these businesses. This type of project is an integral part of vocational learning. Any small business who is interested in carrying out market research should contact the college to take part in the next project."

Student, Gulzohab Khan, said, “These two projects allowed us to conduct surveys and work with businesses which really built up our confidence and market research skills.”
