Introduction to course
If you are considering a career in Marketing, Sales, Finance or Human Resources, then a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma course in Business Studies would be ideal for you.
Course Details
This is a practical, work-related course. In your first year, you will study the following four core units: Exploring Business Activity, Investigating Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, Effective People, Communication and Information. In addition to this, you will study five specialist units.
In year two, you will study Introduction to Accounting, Exploring Creative Product Promotion, An Introduction to Market Research, Human Resource Management, Starting a Small Business, Career Development Planning, Understanding Retailing, Managing a Business Event and Working in Administration.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSE grades A* - C are normally required, including English language. Alternatively, a MERIT grade in BTEC First Diploma or GNVQ Intermediate in a relevant vocational area would also be suitable, normally supported a GCSE grade C in English language..Internal candidates are required to have achieved level 2 in lliteracy before progressing onto level 3.
You may also be required to take a diagnostic test to ensure you are suitable for the course.

The course can lead to opportunities in Finance, Human Resources, Management or Marketing, as well as other Business related careers. Within employment, you can work towards professional qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Management Accounts and Personnel & Development. You may progress onto a degree course or BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Business.
