Introduction to course
Media students take pride in the department's advanced features, which include fully digital video recording and editing facilities, latest industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, PageMaker, Flash and good digital photography facilities. The department runs weekly workshops offering excellent student support and also provides students with exciting trips to TV studios as part of their course.
A Level 2 BTEC Diploma is primarily a work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities. It introduces you to some potential employment areas and it provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.
The full Diploma consists of eight units, the first three will provide you with an introduction to the key concepts, research methods and practical media skills and the other four units are specialist production units.
4 GCSE grades D - E are normally required including English. Alternatively, a MERIT grade at BTEC Introductory level or NVQ Foundation, in a relevant vocational area, would also be appropriate.
Where the course lead
This is equivalent to four GCSEs (A-C grades) which would qualify you to go onto the Level 3 BTEC Diploma course.
