Introduction to course

This exciting course will help you develop your creativity and gain a solid grounding in photographic skills. You will explore both technical and creative camera techniques, taking part in practical projects and learning to carry out independent research from various sources whilst working on assignments. As you gain knowledge of photographic materials, processes and techniques, you will be encouraged to develop an individual approach to personal work. Studying and analysing the work of artists and photographers is an important part of the course and will give context to your practical work.

 

 

This course is a good basis for Higher Education leading to a wide variety of careers in the Art and Design sector. These could include advertising, media, film and television, graphics, publishing, architecture, museum or exhibition work, theatre design, interior design, art galleries, jewellery, fashion, photography, textiles or teaching Art and Design.

Course Details

The work will include the acquisition of skills related to photographic materials, processes and techniques whilst promoting an individual approach to personal work. The study and critical analysis of the work of artists and photographers will give context to your practical work.

Entry Requirements

You’ll need five GCSEs at Grades A*-C preferably including Art, and a satisfactory portfolio, to start our AS Photography.

Where the course lead

This course is a good basis for Higher Education leading to a wide variety of careers in the Art and Design sector. These could include advertising, media, film and television, graphics, publishing, architecture, museum or exhibition work, theatre design, interior design, art galleries, jewellery, fashion, photography, textiles or teaching Art and Design.

Course Assessment

The A Level programme is assessed internally mid-way and on completion of units of work. The overall AS and A2 year is internally marked and moderated and externally verified by the exam board WJEC.
