Introduction to course

This exciting course will help you develop your creativity and gain a solid grounding in photographic skills.  You will explore both technical and creative camera and editing techniques, whilst taking part in practical projects and learning to carry out independent research.  We have a large darkroom, digital photography room and a well equipped studio.

Course Details

The work will include the acquisition of skills related to photographic materials, processes and techniques whilst promoting an individual approach to personal work. The study and critical analysis of the work of artists and photographers will give context to your practical work.

Entry Requirements

In addition to the general entry requirements, you are also required to have the following:

A satisfactory portfolio of work which should be brought to interview and enrolment and/or a grade C or above in Art or a realted GCSE or level 2 course.

Where the course lead

Further and Higher education courses in Lens Based Media, Digital Imaging and Photography. Employment opportunities exist in advertising, journalism, fine art and other related industries, and further advice can be obtained from your tutor during the course.

Course Assessment

The A Level programme is assessed internally mid-way and on completion of units of work. The overall AS and A2 year is internally marked and moderated and externally verified by the exam board WJEC.
