Introduction to course

2 years, assessed 100% course work

If you would like a full-time business studies programme rather than a variety of A levels, this is for you - and if you complete the full two years successfully, your qualification is equivalent to three full A Levels. You will develop excellent analysis and evaluation skills that will help you in any chosen field - whether at university or going to work in business. The course is practical, theoretical and realistic. You’ll undertake report writing and presentations, create newsletters, observe role plays and take part in group activities and time constrained tasks. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain industry experience through guest speakers, visits or taking part in regional enterprise events.

If you enjoy watching Dragon's Den or the Apprentice, if you like the idea of buying shares, if you want to manage a business or start up your own, or work in marketing, sales, finance or human resources, this is the subject for you. Our students say they like how Business Studies is relevant, they can see how it applies to the real world. Our lessons are very interactive - we want to know what you think! We help you understand why and how things happen in a business context, to consider what really matters and to look for the best solution in any given situation.

With the universally-recognised BTEC qualification at Level 3 you could choose, like many of our students, to go on to university to study. Alternatively, you could opt to go straight into a junior role in business or start up your own business. The course can lead to opportunities in finance, human resources, management or marketing, as well as other business-related careers. Within employment, you can work towards professional qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Management Accounts and Personnel and Development.
