Introduction to course
The Level 3 BTEC Certificate and Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting) can be selected alongside three AS subjects. The course introduces students to the principles of acting and various acting styles by studying certain well esteemed theatre practitioners which would then help them create fabulous shows on stage.
This course can also be studied with a Dance option.
Throughout the course, students will benefit from workshops with professional companies and have opportunities to go on theatre trips organised by the department. The theatre has a sprung floor and state of the art lighting system with changing rooms and lockers.
The course gives students all the basic essential skills (use of body, voice, physical expressions, communication with an audience) about performing on stage and also develops their key skills such as working within a team, concentration and organisation.
College entry requirements apply.
Where the course lead
Students can take the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Year 2 (like AS to A2). Students may use this qualification to Progress to Performance, Drama or Acting at university.
This course combines well with
All subjects but especially English Language and Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Media Studies, Art and Photography.
The course has six units and they are all assessed by mainly considering the students' practical work and written work (log books) by the end of every unit.
